Heat pump installation for older Seattle homes
For houses with ducts, or ducts worth saving. One outdoor unit, one indoor air handler, heat in January and cooling in August from the same system.
When to call us
- An oil or gas furnace past twenty years old
- Ducts already in the basement and the main rooms
- Rooms that never cool during a heat wave
- You want to stop oil deliveries for good
How the job runs
- In-home visit: we measure the house room by room and check the ducts, the panel and the oil tank
- Written options within two working days: system, size, what changes in the house, price
- Permits pulled and rebate paperwork started before install day
- Install, usually two to three days, outdoor unit first
- Commissioning, a walk through the controls with you, paperwork filed
Every stage is photographed and goes into the written record you keep with the house.
What drives the price
Heat pump prices depend on the size of the house, how much duct work needs repair, the electrical panel and the equipment line you choose. Your written options show each of those as its own line.
Common questions
Will a heat pump keep my house warm when it freezes?
Yes, when it is sized for your house and our winters. We size from a room-by-room load calculation, not from the old furnace label, and we show you the design temperature we used.
Can you reuse my old ducts?
Often, after sealing and a few changes. We test them first and tell you plainly if a run is too small or too leaky to keep.
